MPs Supported Amendments to the Law “On Grain and Grain Market in Ukraine”

The Verkhovna Rada passed Bill No. 2459 on Amendments to the Law “On Grain and Grain Market in Ukraine” in its first reading. 299 Members of the Parliament voted in favor of the bill. The bill is aimed at deregulation of the grain market. As reported earlier, the Ukrainian Agrarian Association pointed out the key messages of the bill:

  • reverting to the practice of continuing conformity certification for granary services;
  • reverting to the practice of voluntary certification of quality of grain and grain derived products (except for situations where purchase is made using state or local budgets, or if so desired by contractors);
  • removing category "bran, press cake and oil meal" from the definition of term "grain derived products " since they shall be considered waste under the Law "On Waste" and the Ukrainian Classifier of Goods of Foreign Economic Activity, therefore not requiring certification.
